|   | Alan B. Shepard Discovery Center Christa McAuliffe Planetarium Concord, New Hampshire Under construction at this time and scheduled to open in early 2009. This 2-story and 34,000 square foot addition will become the gateway to the redefined McAuliffe Shepard Discovery Center (MSDC). This new science center will expand the function and programs of the planetarium by tripling the size of the current facility and offering much needed exhibit space, food concession, gift shop, meeting space, and support functions. A center atrium oriented to the West will serve as the new entrance to the center. Suspended within its 50 foot high volume will be an F11 Super Tiger, Mercury Capsule, and Apollo/Lunar Excursion Module related to Alan Shepard’s history and experience in space exploration. We have worked with the exhibit designers to facilitate their installation. The building’s infrastructure has been designed for flexibility to meet changing exhibit needs. This contract is under the direction of the State of NH Department of Administrative Services, Bureau of Public Works. |
